Dead in My Tracks uses indie and modern rock influences to tell a fictitious story of notorious outlaw bandits who have been on the run. The story begins with their capturing as indicated by the opening line, “I don’t know if running is a good idea – we might be caught this time – no more living in fear.” In addition to an entertaining story line, DIMT features a variety of flare ranging from the catchy vocal harmonies to the eerie instrumental breakdown toward the end of the song.
lyrics
I don't know if running is a good idea.
We might be caught this time no more living in fear.
In the clutches of my own claws, I hear the bell toll.
This might finally be my time - consider myself sold.
We're just bandits on the run - take your money take your guns.
Not on the hunt for trouble - we just take it as it comes.
Feels so good to live this way.
Got me now - get away.
Under pressure and I'm bound to crack.
Now I'm caught standing dead in my tracks.
There are posters with my name. There's a price upon my head.
I never thought I'd earn the fame or all my friends would want me dead.
I keep my back toward the wall. I keep my hands quick to draw.
I never thought I'd be the one to fall. Guess you can't win against the law.
We're just bandits on the run - take your money take your guns.
Not on the hunt for trouble - we just take it as it comes.
Feels so good to live this way.
Got me now - get away.
Under pressure and I'm bound to crack.
Now I'm caught standing dead in my tracks.
